Welcome to Hope - A Slice of The Good Life
Hope, Arkansas was founded in 1875 by railroad man James M. Loughborough and named in honor of his daughter, Hope. Hope is still a railroad and transportation center and, since the 1920's, has been known as a "watermelon capital," growing some of the largest and tastiest melons in the world. It's also the birthplace of leaders...42nd president of the United States and 44th governor of the state of Arkansas.
Our town anticipates in excess of 40,000 visitors each year during the August festival. The crowds are big. Everyone has a big time. It's Hope, Arkansas' favorite weekend...any way you slice it!!! Come and celebrate the good life with us. See Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce website for more information on the festival.
